Now that the Jude Bellingham saga has concluded, it appears the Spanish club are on the hunt for another English star.

According to the popular Spanish publication MARCA, it is ‘already known’ by Liverpool that Trent Alexander-Arnold will not renew his contract at the club, which means Real Madrid would be free to enter contract negotiations for the right-back, as his contract expires at the end of the 2024-2025 season. The player himself has been vague on whether or not the move will materialize and has not publicly committed to either club.

MARCA states that the two clubs “could enter negotiations for a Winter transfer” but admits that is unlikely to occur unless there is a “significant amount of money” involved in the exchange. The club will assess in the “coming weeks” whether or not they will make any serious attempt to pursue the player in the January transfer window.

The article also mentions Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, who has impressed in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen. However, they still admit that Trent is being talked about “a lot.”

The interest in a more immediate transfer comes due to the fact that Dani Carvajal being ruled out for the remainder of the season, leaving 33-year-old former winger Lucas Vasquez as the club’s only senior right-back.

The Liverpool-born man has been at Liverpool for more than twenty years, becoming one of their top academy graduates and winning every club trophy available. Although he has been considered one of the best players in the world, he has recently attracted even more acclaim, especially after scoring an exceptional free kick with England vs. Finland.

Former England star David Beckham recently joined this chorus of praise.

“If there was one player I look at, and I think he’s very similar in the way he delivers the ball, he’s very similar in the way he crosses the ball or passes, it has to be Trent [Alexander-Arnold],” said Beckham on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast.

“His vision, he’s unbelievable. And he’s an exceptional player, but when I look at a player and I think I see myself in the way he puts the ball in, what he sees, in the long balls that he plays.

“He plays balls that some players don’t even think about and that’s what I love about him as a player.”
